Hi
I’ve run a scan and I’ve more than 700 virus win32 and I don’t know anything about virus bur I’ve see that avast said that msmsgr (windows messenger) was a virus and pictureviewer.exe of quicktime was a virus
internet explorer was supressed… how I`ve to make
Thanks
700 viruses is very very much and i don’t know if it is possible to clean such PC to 100%.
To be honest i would delete everything on the pc (including windows) via ‘format c:’ and reinstall windows…
but i would also wait for other postings/opinions by other users of this forum…
yours

can you tell us the name of the virus(es)? you’re maybe infected with something like Virut, Sality etc (i mean the file infectors)
If it’s confirmed the file infector, maybe will be better a clean installation…
But before, use the opportunity to learn how to clean and manage security programs
Dr.Web CureIt! (free, ftp://ftp.drweb.com/pub/drweb/cureit/cureit.exe) is rather effective against file infectors (especially when is used in Safe mode)
Ive a lot of Sality and polip But what it
s strange it`s the fact of avast say that ms paint, ms internet explorer, apple quicktime picture viewer… are win32 polip or sality
Thanks a lot
You’ve been infected with a file infecter as Maxx suspected. Did you try psw’s suggestion?
hi thanks
I`m a newbie and poor in english
so If somebody can explain me but not in detail and with an easy language
step by step…
thank you
backup your non-executable data (office documents, pictures etc.)
forget to backup any executable (exe, dll, sys, scr…), you would get reinfected
try the cleaning with CureIt
in case of any suspicion, do a format and reinstall
(once you’ve got compromised so much, i would prefer a clean reinstall at all)
Maxx, are there any cleaning routines used in avast! for malware like Polip and Virut?
RejZoR: here’s a rip of my message sent to DavidR yesterday… he asked the same question…
sorry, but that’s not possible for us… Virut contains over 40 different variants, it’s hard to cover the virus with a proper detection and much harder to care about all the variants cleaning (and the cleaning must be done offline - from Bart e.g.)… and that’s only one virus family… our new poly engine (developed since Aug 2007) contains detections for something around 120 virus families… we would have to employ at least five highly skilled coders to keep the cleaner compatible with all the new stuff… i mean the complete cleaning of injected code, deleting services, cleaning all the garbage from registry (we’re doing that in a generic way in current cleaner, but some types of malware need more)…
