German Teen Behind Majority Of Virus Activity In 2004
Author Of Sasser and NetSky Worms Arrested In May
One German teenager is being fingered as the person responsible for about 70 percent of the virus-related activity in 2004.
According to anti-virus firm Sophos, 18-year-old Sven Jaschan was the author of both the Sasser and NetSky worms. Those two creations accounted for nearly half the virus activity tracked by Sophos in 2004. Combined with the traffic created by offshoot versions of the worms, Jaschenโs creations accounted for about 70 percent of the viral traffic for the time period ending June 30.
Jaschen was arrested in May at his home after one of his friends notified Microsoft of his identity.
Sophos warns that while Jacshen may be behind bars,
ONLY GOOD NEWS/HOPES ;D are that while he is behind bars that he gets some โโโvirusโsโ" from the other prisoners))
things wonโt improve much in the battle against computer viruses. The company has identified more than 4,500 viruses so far this year, a figure which is 21 percent higher than the same period in 2003.
