I’ve just installed avast5 and found the auto-update messages now drop from the upper right. Is there a way to make them appear at a different corner?
There isnt an option to do that. Sorry. 
The auto update message appears in the bottom right corner of my screen, not upper right.

No, there isn’t such a setting.
Not entirely correct from what he posted, he is saying it is dropping from the top right (which isn’t the default):

So I don’t know how it is possible for it to be dropping from the top right, it should be bottom right as I said.
Unless it’s task bar oriented. Meaning if the taskbar is at the top of the screen, they will appear top right instead top bottom.
avast! does automatically position the notifications for horizontal (top or bottom) taskbar locations. No idea about the vertical (left or right) taskbars though.

My taskbar is top oriented. It never occurred to me that would make a difference. Making the repositioning of notices might be a good future idea for us disrespectful bar re-orienters.
When it drops, it covers the titlebar buttons for a little while unless I close it. Not a big deal but, it would be nice if it could be avoided.
