Moving Avast from old computer to new one?

I need to install Avast on my new computer since the old one crashed. I have the license attachment sent to my email from Avast but can not open it. I’m using Windows 10 and all it does is ask if I want to open with an app, I get the same message each time. I downloaded the license to a file but can’t open it. Also, does Avast have to be downloaded on the computer before I can download the license? If so, which Avast program? Mine just auto renewed for another year so I need to be able to download it.

You need to install Avast before attempting to open the license. After that, Avast itself will open the license file
Either product you install is fine. When you insert the license it will change to the one corresponding to the license (if needed).
