MPT.FQG???

Avast keeps bringing this up as a trojan/worm. Everytime I delete it, it reappears as soon as i close the folder. Its in the Windows folder. I ran multiple spyware programs but nothing finds it. This just starting happening today when I started the pc up. Anyone have any idea on how to remove it if it is indeed a trojan? or is it a false positive? Thank you!

Deletion isn’t good. First “do not delete, do no harm”, always send it to the virus chest for further investigation.

Schedule a boot-time scan or use Dr. Web CureIt.

What is the malware name of the file?

If it keeps coming back, there is likely to be an undetected or hidden element to the infection that restores or downloads the file again. What is your firewall ?

If you haven’t already got this software (freeware), download, install, update and run it, preferably in safe mode and report the findings (it should product a log file).

Win32:Trojan-gen {Other}

Thats the malware name that comes up. I do have a firewall. CA firewall to be exact. and I have avast running.

The reason for the question on the firewall is if there was a trojan downloader on the system that could be what restore things, but a firewall with outbound protection (CA Firewall should have that) should block that.
