MS Antispyware Beta Spyware Expired

G’day all,

My MS Antispyware Beta Spyware has expired, do you people uninstall MS Antispyware and reinstall again to give another 130 days free again.

I mean what do you people do when My MS Antispyware Beta Spyware has expired, cause the final version won’t be out for a long while.

Are you using the right version of M$ antispyware??

Microsoft AntiSpyware Version: 1.0.615
This version expires on: 31/12/2005
Spyware Definition Version: 5755 (13/09/2005 12:08:49 PM)

No worries Speedy

Hey Speedy, MS Antispyware doesn’t expire until late December. Even if MS Antispyware has expired, you can’t re-install to get more days out of it, it’ll be completely expired after Dec. unless those guys at Microsoft plan to extend the length a bit more. After MS Antispyware beta has expired, I think they’re gonna charge subscription fees there after.

I’ll Check when I get home. Thanks P3t3rb0nn

Some time ago I read (in a PCTipp Newsletter) that Steve Balmer of Microsoft would have said that MS AntiSpyware will remain free in the future. I think for obvious reasons: they too want to keep internetsurfing as safe as possible.

The expiration dates are intended to enforce the removal of outdated software.

Hey P3t3rb0nn,

Silly me. I haven’t updated MS Antispyware for ages cause I had the automatic update turn off…oop!

No wonder I was running the old version, it okay now P3t3rb0nn I have the same version date, month and year as you.

Somebody should wack my silly head for turning off the automatic update.

SpeedyPC glad you got it worked out mate on ya take care

Microsoft Antispyware will remain free for legitimate owners of the OS.

Hi join http://www.fixmyxp.com and have some new smileys do it for you. wack you over the head.
Ask darth mikey he like them.

thats werid because i didn’t think it was a trail.

As a beta version (the clue is in the topic title), it is obviously a trial which has been extended once to the end of the year, at the end of the beta period MS would have had to decide what the release would be, paid for or free. They have now stated it will be free for legit windows XP users as mentioned by Nicolas.

Time has already proved that pirated versions of Windows have access to all these downloads sooner or later: P2P, Warez or cracking anything in the system. So, it will be free for the legit Windows copies but I doubt the non-legit ones will pay for its antispyware…

This is one of the answers in the FAQs about the cost of the MS Antispyware. (For those who doesn’t feel comfortable about the info in the forum)

Windows AntiSpyware (Beta 2) and the final release version will each be available at no additional charge for currently licensed Windows customers. Customers will be required to validate that their version of Windows is genuine.
