This is my wife’s work PC and her MS Office Outlook 2007 issues that have started I would think about 2-3 months ago, before that there was no issues.
Every once a while when she opens Outlook there is connection issue resulting is msg. “Receiving reported error (0x800CCC1A) server doesn’t support the connection encryption type you have specified”
So i either have to close Outlook and reopen, sometimes few times, sometimes several in order to connect. Today for instance I had to reopen at least 15 times, its crazy.
She uses Rogers and they SSL encryption, so my best bet is to either turn the mail shield off and Outlook works without glitch or just turn the “Scan the SSL Connection” Off but either way her mail will be unprotected.
Really! I mean I use web base email for non crucial emails I didn’t realize there so minimum people using outlook, its still among more secure mail clients.
I was trying to import Certificate that was created by avast so I could import to outlook, that didn’t go well.
I will leave the SSL scanning off for time being until someone advises me otherwise
Thanks bob
You’re welcome.
Remember that your ISP is on line. Even if you’re using Outlook, it’s coming via your ISP.
Not any safer or more secure than a reputable on-line email server.
Gmail uses 2 AV’s to check emails and is excellent in filtering out spam.
Problem is, this is my wife’s office email client (law office) and its crucial to her line of work and people she receives and sends emails to , it has some features and plugins that it must have.
Also all her emails and attachments are automatically redirected and stored on separate partition for later view, she can’t loose none and I personalty had issues with Hotmail and g-mail loosing some of my personal mails
I just have to make this work one way or the other
Does avast have email support that I can use to send them inquiry about my issue. tbh. in all those years I haven’t had major issues so I’m quite rusty as far is knowing who I contact, I was trying to seek that info, even through my account, but there is nothing that I can see.
As for now my wife’s Outlook is not being fully protected because I have turned SSL scanning off so Outlook works as it should but I shouldn’t be really doing that, it spoils the purpose of having av.
It’s been few days and not a sole to give a hand. I understand that maybe not many use Outlook, but that shouldn’t be really excuse it’s not like this is unknowing email software to professionals who require this type of email client.
By any chance, would anyone have avast support email that I can use to submit my inquiry please and thanks.
That link is good and if you’re using a paid version you’ll reach Avast.
If you’re using the free version, you have a choice of finding an answer on the knowledge base or,
contact the forum. I’ve sent in a second request for help.
I do have Outpost firewall Pro, but its been running alongside avast pro for years with no issues, only with the recent avast updates Outlook started acting up. Also if I turn the SSL off issue disappears. As far is firewall, I have set tight rules, always have and its not reporting any unusual activities for avast mail shield or if anything was been blocked.
Btw. where would you like me to send the mail log file e.g. PM or email
Thanks for reaching out, its very much appreciated
Upon your request I was testing my wife’s Outlook since late this afternoon and with Outpost firewall Pro Off. It took a while as it always does (intermittent occurrence ) and it happens again and after that it took 8 times reopening and closing Outlook before It was able to go through and actually check emails.
As I suspected Firewall is not causing this random disconnection issue.
