I have happily used avast for years. Now, with a new computer running Windows 7-64 bit, a friend suggested I use MS Security Essentials. He said he uses avast also, and has never had any problem using both programs. But I decided to use only one, as usually recommended, so I installed MS SE.
After a few weeks, I got a message about a virus on the computer. The same friend later said that message was itself a virus! In any case, I quickly installed avast and ran scan, finding three viruses! Since then, both Avast and MS SE seem to be finding viruses, but not the same ones! What’s going on, and should I uninstall MS SE? Sometimes it looks like MS SE is finding and removing viruses that avast hasn’t noticed. What to do?

You can use MS Security Essentials with avast! but you can’t have the resident protection active as they will clash when a virus is detected.
Each anti virus application provider gives detected infections a different name unfortunatly.
