MSE auto-update broken

OK it just never does; I’m keeping it running until avast5 final is out, and I noticed since yesterday that it never ever auto-updates. I can get updates manually about two times a day, which is nice, but the auto-update just does’t work at all. Sounds like I’m not the only one; I just found a thread that I commented a few minutes ago, here:
http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/mseupdate/thread/87328bc0-0cb6-4e90-ab82-ae5f9b3d7c5c/?prof=required

I have no problem with MSE auto updates as I saw it run about 5:00am today that I have it sheduled Daily and I have selected the check for updates to be downloaded before the quick scan and I see the update event

Installation Successful: Windows successfully installed the following update: Definition Update for Microsoft Security Essentials - KB972696 (Definition 1.67.432.0)

which is current:

Your software firewall is probably blocking updates and I don’t trust Comodo:

I don’t trust Comodo either…with the exception of their firewall ;D I too thought the updates could be blocked by CIS, didn’t find any event related to that in the log; but I’ll go through firewall and def+ policies to see if there’s something. I didn’t get any prompt for MSE, as Microsoft is in the list of trusted publishers, but a check can’t harm. Adding again that many others have this auto-update issue in the thread I linked to at TechNet.

edit: the reference to the hopsurf thread here was unneeded.

Logos, you’re using the Beta and seems your File Shield is set to automatically send files to Chest.
It’s a false positive.

hmm…no, never found any MSE related files in the Chest. And again, there’s this thread on Technet where people complain about MSE failing to update automatically. Anyway that’s no big deal anymore since I removed MSE completely, relying on 5.0.150 security now ;D hope it’s really OK
I’m now back from a full Windows reinstall and need to chill out a bit…too long to explain and that 's not the thread for it. I might start another thread about that, not sure yet  (it’s got nothing to do with Avast).
