I recently installed Avast, AIM, and MSN messenger on my laptop. My computer is now virtually crippled, because when I try to do stuff it almost always freezes. When I hit ctrl-alt-del it says: msgsrv32(Not Responding). I uninstalled MSN but it still does it. I also have a desktop that has almost identical problems, it also has Avast on it.

IBM Thinkpad 600E
400 Mhz Intel Pentium II
160 MB RAM
Win98SE
I would suspect that your pc freezing up is due to having the program AIM. AIM, is AOL and they are very notorious for causing problems on computers, such as you are having. I doubt very seriously that it is Avast causing this. You can do what you want but I would try uninstalling AIM and then see what happens. Welcome to the forum. Please go HERE and read what the msgsrv32 means. Might be as I mentioned due to AIM.
Please go HERE to read about problems such as yours suffered by others using the same versions of Windows that you are using. If you read HERE there is more information as to what the problem might be.
