Msiexec.exe process begins only when updating avast to 2015.10.2.2215

For that you boot the pc and always after a while the process C: \ windows \ system32 \ msiexec.exe running with windows only (without installing anything) and if I close rerun alone, I know this passed since installing the new avast 2015.10.2.2215 even if I leave you alone eventually closed. and then I know again no longer appear (I’ve been looking and running things and did not return to appear but I’m not entirely sure) but reappears if I restart the pc is passed as 10 minutes running, and then closes and (AFAIK ) does not appear more.

Is this normal?

I have seen that there are other copies of msiexec in:

C: \ Windows \ winsxs \ x86_microsoft-windows-installer-executable_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.1

and

C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-installer-executable_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_a7a77a3b9cb96ce6

I think they are legitimate routes too.

I enclose a HiJackThis but as I say look at the process and always at 0 cpu and just consume 2580 KB of RAM but not because it runs only.

Deputy HiJackThis reports and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware where nothing appears and the 2nd does not detect anything either.

Possible to avast bug?

PS: I translated with Google Translate, I hope be understood.

Anexa reportes de Malwarebytes’( MBAM ), Farbar Recovery Scan Tool ( FRST ), y aswMBR.exe. esos programas los encuentras aqui: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

@ Essexboy.

He is complaining that since he installed 2015.10.2.2215 msiexec.exe starts automatically and does not go away. I made him reinstalled Avast cleanly but msiexec.exe came back.

Try this

"Temporarily disable System Restore feature. This is an important step. It will prevent msiexec.exe from running again automatically when you run System Restore in the future. To do this, go to the “My Computer” folder and click “Properties”. You will find a “System Restore” tab in the System Properties. Click the tab and choose the “Turn off System Restore” on all drives box. Click “Ok” and confirm the procedure." Then reboot a few times and then turn system restore back on

@ essexboy.

It seems he found out an error with WMI so msinstaller was reseting Net. Framework 4 continously. He applied a Microsoft fixit and it seems to have stopped the event.
