Avast is suppost to scan my yahoo/msn email right?, i have put it to put a clean message into emails, but it still doesn’t scan them, i have run the mail prottion wizard again to no aval.
Also if i look at internet mail and exchange/outlook mail on avast on-acces scanner it says none have been scanned.
Is there a way to manuly set it up though mu msn/yahoo mail?

Lee, Avast scan pop/smtp/imap mail. Webmail doesn’t need to be scanned. And both msn and yahoo are webbased, unless you pay for it.
If you use POP3 use Internet Mail provider,if you use webmail based one its already checked by Standard Shield.
So your saying standard shild dose infact scan my msn/yahoo mail RejZoR?
I do remember you saying something about it here , if aparently it has limitatons, so could a full scan of it (like in pop3 ofr example) be made able in avast! 4.5 or a later version.

No limitations at all. If anything needs to be downloaded/executed from within webmail it needs to be transfered to your machine and thats the point where Standard Shield checks the files. Its almost impossible to bypass this,unless some low level system exploit is used.
There is another thread, very recent, that talks about Stardard Shield ‘bypass’ or disabling… If I found it again, I’ll post the url…

I pretty much doubt that its a bypass or disabled AV. More then a glitch or a bug.
Standard Shield checks your Yahoo/Hotmail in the same way it checks pages, etc. that are downloaded into your temporary Internet folder.
When you view your web based email, you are looking at an internet page that has been downloaded into your temp internet folder and then displayed on your screen. It is not downloaded in the same way as regular pop3 email.
To ensure that yahoo/hotmail (which is likely to have been virus checked at source) receives further protection set your sensitivity to High and scan all created/modified files.
Wow, thanks for that information DavidR, i never knew that.
BTW avast! is always set to high, as is all my protection (firewall ect).
