Avast will not finish scan. Using WindowsXP and Avast Home 4.5. Locks up when if found win32: magistr. Defrag locks (tried to defrag 3-4X with 2 diff. programs) and Windows “Check disk for error” on rebooting. I have tried other virus scans, more defraging, system restore this past two weeks. Ran the Avast fix in DOS to rid Magistr on 2-14. Scan was going and then locked in same place at $NtuninstallQ282010$\MSRepL40.dll Error 42003. Amazingly after this very partial fix, things have been running smooth but I’m afraid to run the scan or even defrag. Avast still runs but when I go to the log viewer it freezes on the Error button (unlocks after a minute or so) In Warning? or notice? log I noticed another virus EraseHDD-G [Trj] on 2-10. Doesn’t sound good. Anyway what started all this was repeated (Delayed Write Failed) that would pile on repeatedly if I left the computer idle for a little while. But like I said things are calm now and no (DWF) messages (Knock on wood) last 3 days. I’m still worried though because if I run any scan I’m afraid another file is going to be corrupted or erased?!. Any help?
Try to update to avast! 4.6, please. If it doesn’t help (the same error is reported on the mentioned file afterwards), could you send us the file? Thanks.
