I was running avast on my home network and MSUpdate Virus (W32/Protoride.worm) made it through not once but 4 or 5 times. I choose to remove Avast from 3 of the computers and install AVG. AVG is lame compared to AVAST so I really want to go back to avast but do not want to have to fight with virus removal.
Anyone else had MSupdate virus get through AVAST
What is your standard shield settings?
I cannot remember exactly… but it was set to check everything, I think the highest it could go.
I also am having a problem with this one, and Avast cannot remove it or send it to the vault. It tells me
C:\windows\start menu\programs\startup\msupdate.exe is infected by “Win 32:Protoride-C-UPX (WRM)” virus

I am using Avast Home Edition 4.1 on Win 98SE.
