Hi there,
I just rebuilt my computer (Windows 7, 64 bit). Installed all the usual stuff (ie. firefox, flash, winamp, etc)… trusted programs… then ran a detailed scan through Avast to test my new cpu performance.
But after the scan, it found a “Rootkit: hidden file”.
The name of the infected file is called “msvcm90.dll”, and its location is in C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft.v.c90.crt_ (lots of numbers and letters) \msvcm90.dll
Has anyone stumbled upon this?
I did a google search for this dll file, but found no substantial answers.
Thanks.
Can you submit the file to www.virustotal.com and check?
Hey there,
Thank you for your reply and the link.
I sent through the file and the report came out clean
“File msvcm90.dll received on 2010.06.01 22:00:27 (UTC)
Current status: finished
Result: 0/41 (0.00%)”
It is strange.
Maybe it is just a false positive. Anyone else have similar problem?
Indeed, seems a fp…
Update your avast and check again.
Thanks for your help.
I ran the update, and you are correct. Nothing found.
Fp.
Thanks agian.
