Multiple Avast Premier Icons in System Tray

Recently I began seeing many Avast Premier icons in the System Tray. Starts out as one, and then gradually increases. I have seen as many as 20 (!), which seemed to accumulate while I was away from the PC. Anyone know why this is?

Repair Avast:

  1. Avast GUI → Settings → Troubleshooting
  2. Click on ‘REPAIR APP’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.

Neither left-clicking nor right-clicking does anything. So how do I get to the GUI?

  1. Download Avast Premier Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_premier_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

By going to Control Panel | Programs and Features | Avast Premier, I was able to click Change and it seemed to update the product. Thanks!
