Can someone tell me why I have 4 instances of AvastUI.exe running in my task manager in windows 7. I am using Avast free version.

This is not unusual (multi-tasking, a little like your browser using multiple browser.exe) rather than use one which would slow things down. However it could reduce after a while. Even so look resources are being used (?).
I have 6 Avast Antivirus entries (when I checked) only 5 are AvastUI related, but just look at the resource use, negligible. See attached image, click to expand.
That is what I was assuming but I just wanted to make sure lol. As you stated my chrome & firefox have multiple instances as well. Thank you for the information.
