Multiple issues! One more and I'm rolling back to 4.8!

Ever since this version 5 has been installed, it’s been one problem after another.

  1. I have had to uninstall and reinstall Java. Twice.
  2. I have had to reinstall my chipset drivers after SATA I throughput fell from ±130MB/sec to just 4MB/sec.
  3. This morning I got login error 0x80040507, saying that I should break out my XP Home disc and do a repair installation. Clicking “OK”, however, brought up the password field as normal.
  4. I’m getting “ESENT” access errors every few minutes:

Any more errors or problems like this and I’m rolling back to 4.8 until you guys get the bugs out of this product that is still obviously in beta. I have used Avast! for at least four years, but enough is enough.

Hi…

While I’m not suggesting this is the cause of all the problems you’re experiencing but do you have any ESET products installed on your system such as NOD32? Two AV’s put together will often conflict with each other.

God bless

Would you care to open one of these events and pos the details here? Saying it’s related to avast! without further inspection is wrong.

Hi, ardvark. I have no other AV products installed on my PC. The only AV I have used since ±2005 has been Avast!.
I’m very sorry, but I misspelled the word. I have fixed my above post; I should have said ESENT errors, not ESET. I’m sorry for the confusion.

I’ll post the data from a few random errors:

I know it may sound “wrong” to blame Avast! for all these errors, but I never had any before Avast! 5 was installed. I don’t think it’s a coincidence.

Try disabling avast! self-defense (Settings\Troubleshooting) and check the logs if there is any difference.

Still happening. Nine times in 20 minutes.
