Multiple Microsoft .NET Framework entries??!?!?!?!?!

Dear Forum,

Why do I have installed the following entries in add or remove programs? :S

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix (KB928366)
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2
  • Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1

Should I remove all except the latest version 3.5?

I am running Window$ XP SP3.

Nope, different programs use different versions. It’s best to leave them all.

If you’re thinking that 3.5 is the latest and the greatest, and should be superior to the older versions, you’re right, but certain things will only work with the older versions. So, it’s not like 3.5 encompasses all features of previous versions.

Each version does it’s own thing.
