Multiple requests for cancellation and refund.

My avast was auto-renewed without me even knowing until a couple days ago.

Since then I have made 4 requests to cancel my subscription, disable my auto-renewal and refund me. Every time I make a request I am told that I will recieve a reply, or I receive an email saying ‘reactivate your software’. I cannot afford this right now and I will take action if I am not refunded, in accordance with the terms and conditions.

Can someone with some sort of authority help me out here? Support center seems to be just about useless.

That is literally the most unhelpful response.

I still haven’t received a reply. Been through the support process multiple times.

Making multiple requests is not needed.
It only slows down the process.

You should have gotten a email that the auto renewal was there.
Perhaps you missed it, which can happen.

Did you mail the customer service as instructed in the link Asyn posted?

Use this link mate -

www.avast.com/en-us/find-order

look up order by order number/password sent to your email

or

look up order by email address and last 5 of credit card

manage the order and select to not auto renew

Taken from a Yahoo page and it worked for me, bearing in mind i had my original e-mail from the date i purchased it. The e-mail contained my order id and password, which was different from my avast account log-in details.

Worked for me and i received an ‘auto renewal cancellation notice’ instantly.

May i also say that i am surprised that a link to cancel auto renewal has not been stickied to the top of this forum section. Would be a great help to the loyal customers who pay good money for this product.

This ‘auto-renewal’ problem seems to be quite common and i dread to think of the number of people who have unknowingly been caught out by this.

Sorry Josh, only now noticing that they’ve already taken your money. If i’m correct they take the money out about a week before, so if you are saying this happened a couple of days ago you are still within your original subscription date, so i should see no trouble with getting your money back mate. At least you have e-mails to prove contact.

Let us know how you get on please.

Its still a pending transaction, so if I cancel now will the money be returned to my account?

Will do, thanks man.

Okay so I just received an email stating that the order was cancelled, and that I should recieve a refund within 7 days. Or if it’s still pending it may just disappear.

Thanks for the help guys.

The way that this automatic renew thing is hidden is disgusting.
There is an account page on Avast’s site with licenses and their details. THIS is where the options should be stored.
Expecting a customer to dig up a year old email because they were automatically opted into an auto-renewal process is just not customer friendly.

This is either incompetence in the usability department or an actual attempt to obfuscate the auto-renewal management in to make it difficult to leave.
Whatever the truth it doesn’t look good for the company.

It is only hidden if you have your eyes closed when ordering.
Auto-renewal is enabled by default so the user can’t forget to renew the subscription when the current license expires.
You can un-check auto-renewal when ordering.

A better option for a paying customer would be to receive a separate popup window asking if they want the license
automatically renewed at the end of the year.
Yes, I know it might not result in as many renewals but, those that renew would certainly be happier.

I followed Chris100’s directions, logged into www.avast.com/en-us/find-order
Found my order, clicked on manage my account
When I got my email and password entered, I got a message on the page in red “Enter a valid email address”
I DID enter my valid email address, MULTIPLE TIMES !! I am so frustrated! I just want to get rid of auto renew.
I have tried submitting tickets, telephone calls, nothing helps!! I am at my wits end!

HELP!!

As has been explained many times, submitting multiple tickets/changing a existing one will put you back to the bottom of the stack.

The phone number is only for technical assistance and it is handled by a really bad company.

Reminds me of this post, Not sure if any of this will help:

Quote from Quiksilver: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=168555.0

“It happens more often than people would like to admit, but there is high number of misspelled email address and the number one reason some customers do not receive their license. In this case, the page https://www.avast.com/resend-license-paid.php will not provide much assistance.

The other reason, is that certain mail clients simply move the Avast email confirmation into the spam folder.

Ideally, the easiest way to locate an order is to note the order number. One can then login via www.avast.com/find-order and retrieve their licenses, invoice, enable/disable automatic-renewal, etc - among others noticing an incorrect email address. “

Hi smitti0110

I couldn’t find any ticket by you since late February, but that for something different… Anyway, I’ve cancelled your auto-renewal

Cheers!

Autorenewal information along with correct URL and Order ID, plus password is sent to customers 30, 15, and 7 days prior to renewal. All the information is specified in that email to cancel auto renewal.

The original order confirmation “from 1 year ago” also contains the same information regarding auto renewal.

As Eddy mentioned, auto-renewal can also be disabled at the ordering stage, before you even enter your personal details and credit card information.

Furthermore, the auto renewal reminder also contains the exact date billing will take place, which is typically 5 days before the expiration of the license.

We’re simply asking users to help us, help you.

I have attempted to cancel my paid subscription prior to the end of the trial, and I did not check the box for auto renewal, but I was still auto renewed…help!
