Music Stutters

I’ve had this problem since installing avast! Home v4…
I can’t chat on AIM or Yahoo while playing my music…either streaming or from my media players (Windows Media Player and WinAmp - latest versions) - every time I receive or send a message, the music cuts out or stutters. I suspect this has something to do with avast! as this has never happened until I switched over from Norton (all traces removed). Also, the music will skip or stutter when my email program is receiving new mail. I started watching closely, and whenever the avast! ball is spinning in my system tray, the music goes all wonky on me.

Can somebody please help me resolve this issue? I love avast! and have just sighed and put up with the music issue, but I’d really like to get it resolved…

I’m running Windows XP Home SP2…all updates installed.
1 gig of RAM
RealTek '97 with SRS Audio SandBox add-on
(All of these were in place and working perfectly prior to avast! being installed)

Thanks in advance!

Check that the level of protection set in each of the providers is set to “standard” rather than “high”.
Other than that, I haven’t much idea…you could check in task manager when this occurs to see what application is using high cpu cycles.

Thanks a BUNCH, Tarq57…I think that took care of the situation…only very minor stuttering so far…
