my avast antivirus program has been stopped after update to 7 version

has any1 got this problem?

my avast has stop suddenly,i even cant uninstall it.

when i click uninstall .a message pop -

’ error reading product data from "C:\program files\AVAST software\avast\setup" .setup cannot continue. ’

firstly what version is your avast? 7.0.1407 (many bugs) or 7.0.1462?
if you want to uninstall get aswclear here: http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility

disable self defense module and boot on safe mode run this tool…

then download avast 7.0.1462 from here: http://files.avast.com/iavs5x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe

there are many bug fixes like bugs to your issues in this official release after R2 beta :slight_smile:

hi im having the same problem as this person im not sure which version i had but avast just stopped working and when i click fix now it did not fix i tried to uninstall it didnt work i downloaded the aswclear and i startedin safe mode and tried to uninstall it didnt work the message spoken about by the person above keep popping up… plzzzzzz help my computer needs protection

It is happening if you are upgrading the avast 6 version to avast 7. Follow the below steps:

  1. Download avast removal utility http://files.avast.com/files/eng/aswclear.exe
  2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode. http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx?mfr=true
  3. Run the avast removal tool.
  4. Restart the computer in normal mode.
  5. Download and install the latest version of avast.
