Virus and other threats can infects the memory as well.
as Igor said in a post somwhere in here.....if it has, then it is already to late! ( i will see if i can search some info )
anyway, as i understand memory scan is already included in the quick / full scan… so why this happens when you select this extra scan…dono?
anyway it is not necessary to scan everything, there is a realtime shield working in the background all the time…scanning all files/process that is moving, so if a virus file/process is on the move…the real time shield will grab it
if it was necesarry to scan everything then avast would have made one default scan that scanned everything…and it would be slow as molasses and use a week to finish
if you use the quick scan once a week it is plenty…or activate the screensaver scan, then you dont have to think about it at all
if and when it find a virus, then you can run a full scan
