My Avast keeps turning itself off

Can someone advise me on what to do?
It started yesterday, I ran my smart scan and it went to 39% finished and got stuck there at Home Security.
I left it alone for around 5 minutes to see if it would change which it did not.
So I canceled and figured I’d try it later on. Then, I turned off my pc to go and do some errands.

Later on I returned to my pc and was browsing around ebay and YouTube and noticed there was a red X on my icon.
I turned it back on and around 2 minutes later it was off again.
This keeps happening, And as a matter of coincidence, It has just turned itself off while I was typing this.

Any suggestions?

I honestly thought I was asking in the right place. But I did follow your link and found a solution.
I think my Avast is working fine now, Thanks for your suggestion!
