My Avast will not update or reinstall!

I noticed that my virus definitions where not up to date, so I tried to update them and it would just endlessly fail to update them, so after a few days of this I tried to update the program its self this also failed, so I tried to uninstall and reinstall it and its still failing to install!

The error text is attached, please help, I kinda need an anti virus…

I am having the same problem and am unable to pay or register using Orde No etc. My card number is also rejected. The Credit Card number is diffrent from previous as have had to change my card

Free version of avast

and I’m pretty sure its the newest version but I’m not sure because I uninstalled it?
could something be blocking it, like malware bytes? I just installed that recently.

also the CAPTCHA for these forums is really tough!

Ok even with Malware bytes and window defender turned of it still failed to install and told me there was an error any ideas? this is really strange…

First, be sure to get rid of all remnants of any prior installed AV(s)…!!

Then:

  1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.
