My AVG Software Analyzer "Quick" Test

I haven’t actually thoroughly prepared for the test, I’ve just decided to throw stuff at AVG’s Software Analyzer and see what happens. And results were pretty amazing.

I’ll make more tests in the future, a bit because I want to perfect the testing methodology as well as improve my speaking skills. I’ve been typing English for years, but haven’t really spoken it much. So, it’ll be a challenge, especially getting rid of a somewhat Russian accent I sometimes have (even though I’m not Russian lol).

Its good to see IDP in action as always.To add I never feel like I am using AVG now because of the avast sounds being imported in here as well as the threat alert style being from avast.They really make you feel like you are using avast even when you are running avg.

This is going to be really good for avast because avg IDP will bring in a proper process monitoring and will help avast even further with detecting things that usually has been going under their radar.

Did they actually integrated evo-gen and filerep detection into avg?? Surely a much needed buff to avast.

A good test - the IDP is doing a decent job and once fine tuned along with other protection features it should improve detection.

Yes they have. You can see that in the 3/4 point of the video where I do a normal scan of remaining files. A lot of FileRepMalware detections.

In fact, from inspecting the detection names (I’ve commented on this in the video), it looks like they have ditched entire AVG engine from AVG and replaced it with avast!. They however did leave IDP in AVG under name Software Analyzer.

My prediction is, they’ve decided to use avast! engine as foundation, develop AVG first and then quickly port back features to avast! through already established foundation, updating and detection system. This way they can accelerate porting of AVG features to avast! without neglecting AVG in favor of making avast! better. In a way I now understand their decision…

Yes I didnt see any detection from the AVG engine.Just realized it now.So are they going to completely scrap avg definations or were the name changed??

They say they integrated both definations but I only see avast detections…maybe they will integrate it back later into avg.
