Sorry for disturbing, but I’ve got an ADSL connection to Internet and somehow, Avast Home Edition does not see server to make an update. Please help!
Make sure you have in the settings “no proxy” set.
Make sure it is not your firewall who is blocking it.
And please provide more information, we are not mindreaders.
What OS?
What exact version of Avast?
What happens exactly when you try to update?
etc etc
I have set “no proxy” and “auto”, but with same result. I have AVAST 4.5 Home Edition on Win2000. And when I try to update it says: “unable to connect to server”
What firewall do you have?
Have you tried with the firewall disabled/removed?
Any other security related software installed?
What happens if you try a manual update?
Thank you! I have Outpost. I turned it off, and everything was GREAT! Question: I have to do it every time to update? Mayby I should make some rule for AVAST?.. Thank you again! I’ll try to go further!
No, you don’t have to close the firewall to get the updates.
You only need to set the apropiate rules so that Avast is allowed to connect.
Hi prof,
I have an update problem too, there is a message showing 0 out of 0 bytes completed, and is forever trying to conect to the site.
I am using XP home edition with no other antivirus installed. Kindly help me out. I do not know how to check the proxy can you elaborate pls?
Cheers,
pixi
Posting twice for the same problem only causes confusion and additional work for those trying to help. Check your other thread post. I also assume that you have tried the options already suggested in this thread.
