My compliments and a few questions about the new Avast! Mobile Security Update

First of all I just want to express my immense happiness and gratefulness that you have finally released Web service features for your Mobile Avast! Anti Theft and AV app.

Myself and millions of other users have waited long, hard and very patiently for this release and I cannot express just how impressed I am with all the features. Some of which I never would have even deemed possible. There is no way I can describe how the Avast! team seems to just crush the competition every time. You guys really are a diamond in the rough, you’re really starting to make other corporations look so second rate.
I am so glad that I didn’t go back to AVG whilst I waited for the Web features.

But enough flattery (for now).

I have a few questions that I would really like answered in the new version:

  1. How do I exclude items from showing up as threats on my phone? I used to see an option for making ‘exclusions’ in my phone of apps and .apk files that were incorrectly flagged as threats, that are not, that I wished to exclude. As well as some apps that I develop that I wanted to have excluded so they did not always flag or trigger warnings every time I did a scan. Has the ability to create exclusions disappeared in this version?

  2. When viewing the status of my device from my Avast! web account it says: Automatically Enable GPS: No
But on my device it says that this will be done automatically on Rooted devices. My device is rooted. I have tested getting a location of my device from the Web control centre with the GPS on my phone On AND Off. Both times it was able to get a signal and determine a location without even flashing the GPS icon on my phone. Though I did notice that when I had turned it off, the GPS was turned back on after I sent the command to locate the phone. So why does it state on the Web interface that Automatically Enable GPS: No
When it obviously should be ‘Yes’?

  3. Some of the settings on the ‘Anti-Theft’ tab do not match the settings that I have set on my phone. Is this a problem or a bug?

Those are the only questions I have. I am so satisfied with this product that I will endeavour in any way that I can to promote it to my friends. Thank you so much for all of these features, this really is so much better than Apple’s iOS. You guys truly really deserve a multitude of awards for this. Most of all thank you for making this free, its just another reason why I am happy that I bought Avast! Internet Security on my computer. You guys have the cheapest subscriptions and without a doubt the most amazing features and support. I have never ever been disappointed as long as I have waited patiently.

Really my heart goes out to you guys. I hope someone from the team reads this. You guys just made the start to my week fantastic and amazing. I truly feel safe with Avast! now. The app really is pretty much complete.

Have a lovely rest of the week yourselves!

Hi,

I’m really glad that you like the new version, every post like that just makes my day  Now to your questions:

  1. As far as I know (and I should know) the option was never there for malware samples. You can ignore a warning (~yellow result), but not a malware. You can disable PUPs in the app Settings if the detections you have are PUPs (and if not, you should really consider if they are malware or not and if you want to keep them on your device). We thought about an ignore list a probably will think about it again in the future, but we still haven’t decided how to put it in the app so it’s easily used but not abused.

  2. I think that’s a bug, will forward someone from AT here.

  3. Which settings exactly?

Filip

Hi i had the same problem found out that Google remove this option from Avast (automaticlly enable GPS) if you go to web site and click on Anti-Theft then Change Settings. The box opens in Basic mode click on Advanced and there you will see an information bubble that states google has removed this, gives you a solution but i have no idea how to install to the root of my phone.
Hope this helps
