my computer changes the hour

I’m using avast 4.6 home edition and it hasn’t detected any virus, but my computer keep changing the hour and the date , I think is a virus. what should I do? ???

 Hi lixy :

Probably more likely to be a trojan or spyware !? Other
than Avast, what other computer protection program(s)
do you have on your computer ? What is your Operating
  System ?

You should also check your CMOS battery located on your motherboard, because in 90% of cases, that’s exactly what happens. Battery needs to be replaced with new one. They are not expensive at all, and you can find them in almost any technical store.

Check this reply by me I posted a while ago… there are some pictures to make everything easier to follow:

I’m using ad-aware, spybot search and destroy, spyware blaster and ewido and my operating system is windows xp

my computer is also changing year , well today it was 2002, so I wonder if this could be only the battery??

Well as I said, best way to check that is to buy a new battery, set your computer’s clock and date to the curent one and then see if that happens again. Batteries are unbelievable cheap.

Do not forget to completely shut down your PC, unplug the power cord from the outlet as well. Wear one of those antistatic wrist straps, or at least discharge yourself by touching some of the metal pieces on your computer’s case prior doing anything inside your computer case (i.e. on the motherboard, HDs, RAM memory sticks etc.)

I mentioned antistatic wrist strap in this thread, and also you can see how it looks like:
