Hello–I was using Avast free edition when I started getting “your computer is infected with a virus” from a web page called “INTERNET SECURITY 2010”. It wanted me to buy their virus program??? I then went to the Avast site and downloaded and paid for your virus program. My computer then crashed totally before i could even use it. I bought a new computer and now I would like to know how i can load your program, which i paid for, on my new computer. I have my order # and license key. Also, my new computer has 6 months of free Norton virus protection. Should I wait till my Norton time is up and then activate Avast or is it OK to have both programs on my computer at the same time. Confused–Walt
Welcome to the forums, vilkinofsky.
No, it is not OK to run 2 or more av programs at the same time. This will actually give you less protection instead of more protection as the 2 av’s will clash with each other.
Yes, you can still use the same license key. Use the following steps as a guide.
1 - download avast from the avast website but do not install it yet.
2 - download the appropriate Norton removal tool from their website for your version of Norton.
3 - disconnect from the internet.
4 - remove Norton from your computer by using their removal tool.
5 - install avast and insert the license key when it is fully installed.
