my computer sent an email to all my contacts

I have had advast for years and so far have been without problems untill today
My computer sent and email to all my contacts and even signed my name to the bottom of the letter.

All it had in the letter was this link
hxtp://sisli.tonerdolumu.info/kx/clbuhyytzwpfkklfhlozvtpvbweve
then my name
How do I stop this from happening again?
Why didnt advast prevent this?

Thanks for your help
John

Why didnt advast prevent this?
you mean avast. ;)

how do you read your mail?..webmail (reading in your web browser) or do you download the mail to your computer with a mail client like outlook / outlook express…

webmail: your account may be hacked … try change your password
mailclient: you may have a infection… check for infections

or they just harwested a bunch of addresses, and the sendt from address faked
it can also be that any of your friends computers is infected and your mailaddress was in there address list

if you want to check for infections…

attach the requested logs (not copy and paste) http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0

run in order listed
AdwCleaner / Malwarebytes / OTL / aswMBR

when done removal experts will be notified and check the logs fore infections…

One more thing. If it’s the Worm ILUVYOU. Tell them NOT to open the email. It probably contains a Virus. Or even in general. More so if the sent times were close to each other.

Hi John,

The redirected domain was registered yesterday which makes that link surely malicious.

See: http://urlquery.net/report.php?id=3950587
And: http://www.urlvoid.com/scan/greenfatburn-solution.com/

Please change http:// to hXtp:// so others don’t accidentally click.

Thanks,
~!Donovan

Using your email address as a user name is also not recommended
unless you enjoy being bombarded by spam ???
