I have Avast free for my laptop. It runs Windows 8. Yesterday afternoon I had a window from Avast tell me that my computer needed critical updates. I downloaded them right then. I am only 95% sure that they were for Microsoft because I just glanced at them before installing. It said I needed to restart my computer to finish the install. So I did. It acted like it does every other time I install updates. It tells me the percentage it is at and say not to shut down computer. It went to the screen to sign into my profile. I have tried entering both my pin and my password, but it will not go past the sign in screen. I am not sure what to do and would appreciate any advice greatly.

Download it to a CD, and then run it on your laptop.
If you have a Windows 8 installation disk, you can boot from it and choose restore options, and restore to a time before you installed the updates.
