Last night, on Major League Baseball web site, I suddenly started getting flashing warnings that my computer was crashing and due to the fact that I am a novice computer user, I
frantically tried responding to the pop-up messages but probably did more harm than good. I recall seeing 6 or 7 infections in one box, 6 or 7 infections in another and maybe 75
infections in another. I recall seeing something about Trojan something or other. I have the free version of Avast virus protection on my Toshiba laptop and ran three or four scans
which showed zero infections but stated all files were not scanned. I ran a boot scan and the only two indicated infections I got said zip archive is corrupted and cab archive is cor-
rupted. I remember something else I did prompted by one of the pop-up messages that asked me if I wanted to save or open something I was doing, and when I looked at my downloads, had about 6 or 7 “new” zipped files. The last problem I ran into was being unable to click off one of the boxes to get to a box underneath that was trying to tell me to
click onto something to possibly prevent further damage but I couldn’t read the entire warning because of my inability to click off the box over top that one. Can the forum help this
frustrated novice? Thank you.
files that can not be scanned are not infections…
avast is just giving you a scan report, telling you some fil(s) could not be scanned and the reason why…it does not mean they are infected
if you supect you are infected, follow this guide and attach (not copy and paste) logs from Malwarebytes / OTL / aswMBR

when done, a malware remover will be notified and will check the logs when he arrive
I Have a lot to learn Pondus. I don’t know the difference between Windows and Doors but at least I can listen to Jim Morrison. I’ve scrolled all over this help forum looking for solu-tions to my situation that occured 8 hours ago. Been up all night now. The problem reported by Sbmccabe #65 or 66 is what happened to me. I didn’t even know what the chest
was but i think I clicked on it several times, ergo, the six or seven zipped folders that are now in my downloads that i don’t even know how to get rid of. It’s kinda’ comforting that
people are attuned to some of the issues beginners run into. tballgame. Thanks,Pondus.
