Got a BSOD caused by aswsp.sys 15 min after I boot my PC this morning. I have used Avast since version 4, and V. 6.0.1203 since it came out, and I have never had a BSOD before.
I already sent minidump to Avast FTB named iroc9555 BSODmini081011-01.rar and e-mail it also to pk.
I understand there is no solution to this BSOD until next version but I thought that more data the better understanding of the problem.
It rather depends on what the cause is as to there being a resolution or not. There are a number of patches, but these should only be used if your issue is specifically stated to be resolved.
Well I got my Microsoft Tuesday updates yesterday and eventhough I rebooted my comp something had to be sorted out and Avast did not like it. I had not had another BSOD since this morning so I hope it was Avast sorting out whatever the updates did yesterday. Anyway I sent the minidump just in case.
I have just done the patch Tuesday updates on my XP SP3 and win& systems today and no problems on reboot.
I take it your subsequent restart after the BSOD was fine ?
If so it might just be a hiccup, but if it were to become a regular occurrence, you could disable the avast self-defence module as that is the driver for it.
Exactly I did not have any problem on reboot yesterday either.
Yes. No more BSOD until now, cross my fingers and toes too.
I think it was just that “a hiccup”. Thank for the tip to disable self-defence module that is my advice in the Non-English foro to members who are having problems with aswsp.sys.
