My first scan claimed 99 infections - where are they

Yesterday I installed Avast MAC free and ran a full scan which claimed to have found 99 infections and 231 unable to scan

I opened the Report window and it showed :

1 instance of /library/application support/mackeeper/quarantine/file0 HTML:lframe-inf

12 instances of /users/keith/.trash/7dtqdsor.exe (10 instances with a time before the .exe)

1 instance of /users/keith/library…Mail/pop/tools.sky-1.com/trash HTML:redirector-HD [trj]

1 instance of /usr/lib/libgenkit.dylib MacOS:Genieo-L [PUP]

I simply deleted all of the above (was I correct to do so? but more importantly where are the other 85 instances

1 instance of /library/application support/mackeeper/quarantine/file0
Do you have another AV installed ... Mackeeper?
MacKeeper is a utility software suite for Mac OS X. It is heavily promoted and has been the subject of a class-action lawsuit for false advertising.[1][2] Some reviewers say that MacKeeper secures and optimizes a system, while others say that crash-prone Macs can be cured by removing MacKeeper.[3][4]

I suggest you post a screenshot of the scan result here so that the Mac experts can see

Hi, thanks for coming back. I hadn’t realised I had any MacKeeper stuff on my MAC. I have attached a screen sot as suggested. Was I right to simply delete all these files?

Hello,
this certainly looks as a bug. Could you please attach us a scan report log that can be found at ~/Library/Application Support/Avast/ScanLogs/ ?

Best Regards,
Martin

I don’t have any files or directories called scanlogs

Each scan report displayed in product is stored in a file AVScanLog-*.data in $HOME/Library/Application Support/Avast/ScanLogs folder. Since this bug is specifique to your findings, it would help me a lot if I could load the report and inspect the product behavior with a debugger.

Best Regards,
Martin

Hello Martin,

I still cannot find any folders names scanlog. When I installed Avast was there any point where I was asked if I wanted them or not?

I will start another scan tonight to see if any get created somewhere

Well, it found 1 infection (Lemming-2146) and it is in /Users/shared/infected/swapfile10
There were 230 files unable to scan but still no files or folder AVScanlog…

Well, I meant, for any scan you make there is created a report file. If you open Finder, press CMD+SHIFT+G and type ~/Library/Application Support/Avast/ScanLogs, there should be opened a folder containing them. Could you please send me it to krahulik@avast.com, so I can analyze it?

Best Regards,
Martin
