In case somebody else has this problem (or the original poster didn’t find a solution), I solved a similar problem by adjusting the avast settings. In the Troubleshooting section, I ticked the option “Load avast! services only after loading other system services”. A message appeared warning me that my machine would be at risk of infection during the startup phase, but when I re-started the computer, iTunes was once again able to see my iPod Touch.
And that is why is still a beta software, one of some reasons. sigh
and still after making a clean install of avast internet security 2014 on windows 7 64 bits the software doesn’t ask for a reboot…not a serious issue but a basic one…ups. sigh.
I’ve tested kasperky, BitDefender and Avira in the latest days i don’t have a single issue opening iTunes automatically when i connect my devices…Avast 2014 is the exception.
Any chance of fixing this? Maybe one day? six months?
Am i still protected if i continue using version 8 which has no issues for me developers?
Avast i know you dont’ give a dam about losing 1 single customer but im gonna give the company a last try until the next build if you fix this gonna renew with you if not moving to Kaspersky or Bit Defender or Avira (each of these has their own issues though but dont block iTunes.).
