Have an HP Pavilion with Windows 7. It freezes up in normal mode, runs fine in Safe Mode. Have run Malware Bytes with no problems. Have tried eliminating startup items and services, nothing consistent. Loaded Avast (free) and tried to run a Full Scan. Set it to run during the night last night. This morning machine was frozen. When I forced it off and rebooted, I saw that the scan ran about a minute and a half and shut off. I presume the machine froze.
Tried it again a few minutes ago and it ran over 14 minutes and then I got the blue screen of a serious failure, just like before. I went into the event viewer and found the error that started about the time of the blue screen. It said 7 things had failed to load. aswRvrt, aswSnx, aswSp, aswVmm, discache, spldr, and Wanarpv6 (could be typos in this list).
I went to google and found that at least the first one sent me to the Avast forum. I do not believe Avast caused this problem, as it was occurring before I installed Avast. But the forum articles reminded me of the programs you had me run a couple of years ago when I was looking for a problem on my grandson’s pc. So thought I’d put this up here to see if I can get some help again. I’ve been chasing this for about 4 days, with no luck. It’s better, less freezes, but it still hangs. And now it is more likely to just shut down and give me the blue page with the messages on it.
By the way, on the blue page, it says something like DRIVER-IRQ - Device … Don’t remember exactly the message, but it made me wonder if there is a driver problem. So I already updated the video driver with no change.
Thanks,
Don Smith
