Any site get’s the same message. When I turn off Web Shield, I can access any site. I added google, hotmail, etc to excluded pages to see if that helped but no avail. Can you help?
Thanks!

I had the same problem on my PC.
I put the Fire Fox exe. and IE 9 exe. into the webshield exclusions and I got my connections back.
I made a post of this problem and asked anyone if this was safe to do but so far I have had no one tell me if that was OK to do.
Without those exclusions there I can’t access the internet with Firefox or IE9.
I didn’t have to do that on my laptop though. My laptop runs XP and my PC runs Windows 7 both use Online Armor Free.
If you are using OA, check under “Programs” and “Autoruns” to make sure everything is in green and nothing is in yellow or red, meaning everything listed is allowed and trusted. Are you using the lastest version of OA (5.5.0.1557)? If not, you may want to do an uninstall and fresh install (OA suggestion for some with problems) and see what happens. I run Avast with OA with no conflicts, but you also need to put both software as trusted exclusions. Let us know if you have additional questions. Thank you.
Running up to date version of OA, nothing in red or yellow.
When you say put both software as trusted exclusions, do you mean OA excludes Avast and Avast excludes OA and FF and IE9 ?
It’s funny that I had no problems on my laptop with XP pro and only on my PC with Windows 7.
Is it OK to put the FF exe. and IE9 exe in the Web shield exclusions.
· Settings > Exclusions > Add > search for Online Armor and click on the box to the left of it and add it, then click OK.
· Real Time Shields > Expert Settings > Trusted Processes > Add > search for Online Armor and click on the box to the left of it and add it, then click OK.
· Behavior Shield > Expert Settings > Trusted Processes > Add > search for Online Armor and click on the box to the left of it and add it, then click OK. Also change action to take in Behavior Shield to “Ask.”
To exclude Avast in OA:
· Open the OA GUI > Options > Exclusions > Add > click on the pop-up window and find C:\Program Files\Avast Software.
· When you reboot OA (to go into Learning Mode), make sure ALL Avast shields are left on.
· Reboot your machine again; OA requires two boots. After this second reboot, you may get a pop-up asking you if you trust Avast. Answer the pop-up as “Trust Always” and “Remember My Decision” and you should not get any more pop-ups.
· Open the OA GUI > Programs > untick “Hide Trusted” so that you can see everything > look to make sure everything from Avast is not “blocked” (red) or “ask” (yellow) - you did this already. If it is, right-click the item and change it to “Trust.” Reboot.
You do NOT want to put FF and IE as trusted exclusions. If anything, you want to put them in Run Safer Mode in OA for better protection – you will see a green border on your monitor when in this mode. There should be no need to disable the web shield in either OA or Avast.
Sorry didn’t work.
If I don’t have the FF exe or IE9 in the Web Shield exclusions I can’t get on the internet.
I don’t see how OA is blocking my internet, if I turn off the web shield and OA is running I get on. If web shield is on and AO is disabled or enabled I can’t get on without those two exclusions in the web shield.
Sorry I was talking about Avast’s web shield not letting me on the internet. OA has no problem letting me on line, it’s Avast 7 that’s not letting me on without those two exclusions in Avast s Web Shield
I had no such issue with Avast 6 or with Avast 7on my laptop {it runs XP pro and OA free}
It’s Avast that I’m having the problem with on Windows 7 and OA free.
Do you have any existing entries for avastSvc.exe (that is what controls the Web Shield) in OA, if so delete them and reconnect to the internet (with the web shield enabled) that should force OA to ask permission again.
Nope no existing entries like that in OA. I also don’t see the avastSvc.exe entry running in the task manager under processes, that’s kinda weird, shouldn’t it be there when the web shield is running?
All I see under the task manager processes is avastUI.exe
Again I have to say I have no problems with OA running and the exclusions in the Avast web shield, but when I take them out then I have problems.
OA running, Avast web shield exclusions in place = no problems
OA shut down, Avast running with exclusions in place = no problem
OA shut down, Avast running without exclusions in place = problem can’t get FF or IE9 to access internet.
OA running, Avast Web shield shut down = no problem
I see the Avast Web shield is somehow the problem, no?
Thanks again.
PS. wanted to see what was running in the task manager on my laptop and noticed a lot more avst processes than on my Windows 7 PC .
All that shows up on the PC is avstUI exe. and yet In my Avast user Interface all real time shields are shown as working Web shield even shows how many pages it has scanned.
Would Windows 7 not show some of the processes that are running as compared to XP pro on my laptop.
I added the service chrome.exe to the Web Shield exclusions. It seems to have solved my problem. I can now access the internet. Is this sufficient? Am I still protected when I go online using Chrome?
