My story-How is met avast? how i began liking it?

Here is my story…Hope this isnt going too badly off topic :-X

I first met avast in 2010 in december i guess…when i brought this new laptop it came along with NIS 2011…worked for a few days and then began robbing my RAM :o

Then i decided to make a switch to NIS…I was quite puzzled as to what is a good alternative to it…Many people told me at my workstation try something free like avast!..so i told ok let me try it  Haha…funny…after the installation of avast that welcome to avast scared me cozz my speakers were at max at that point and i was like what was that???then slowly got used to the sounds…I didnt began liking avast though at that point…

A week later one of my relative brought his USB stick and told there movies and games in it…I plugged it in and that TING TING TING!THREAT HAS BEEN DETECTED…scared me for a second i thought it was just a normal autorun worm that avast caught…then i scanned the USB with MBAM and it detected 100 items infected with autorun…But in my pleasent surprise when i scanned the same files with avast it showed 273 Items are infected with autorun sality virut and all sorts of nasties…I removed them with avast! and re-scanned with MBAM and came clean…

I was pissed off at that point…Holy cr*p avast detects more than normal scanner…OMG! what a superb job done by avast!

From that time avast has been my recommendation and my favoured AV…and what happened to USB stick…it remained with empty folders no files no games no movies nothing…

So what your story>> share it in your replies…

Have you used AVG?

I had used Avast first for a year.
Then after the first year expired I decided to test out AVG instead of registering my version of Avast.

I think I also used AVG for a year but in the end I re-installed Avast.
Although Avast seemed to use more memory than AVG it seemed to offer more protection.

Well, first met avast when I was taking a Building Automation course for Siemens Apogee. We were learning programming building HVAC systems into the program and I was looking at this little blue ball on the tool bar which was installed in all the laptops in the class. I asked the instructor what program it was and he said “Avast…if you don’t have it on your computer, you should get it”. At that time I was using my service providers A/V on my computers at home, and it had let in a few nasties which I had to manually get rid of myself. When I got home, I installed avast and have never looked back. Can’t remember the last time I actually got infected and could not get rid of it.(not for lack of trying on my test machine…lol) I now install the free edition on every computer I repair or rebuild. Fantastic A/V!
