My subscription is still valid, but program thinks otherwise

I activated my pro version about 2 months ago. Last week, instead of the usual “Virus database has been updated”, I started getting a red window saying that my subscription has expired and therefore, I can’t update anything anymore.

When I check in the “Subscription” subsection in the maintenance section of the Avast program window, it says that it is valid until 02/03/2012 11:06:04 PM.

If I click on “Insert license file” and try to open my license file, I get “[…]\License.avastlic is not a valid avast! license file. [2000001c]”

I have two possible explanations:

  1. There is a problem with me or the program and I need help;
  2. I accidentally discovered time travel and will soon be rich.

I think the first explanation is more likely, so can anyone help me? My virus definitions are out of date and I am starting to feel vulnerable!

Thank you.

You may ask for a new license file, the old one could be broken:

The purchase has been canceled (refunded) as a suspicious / fraud credit card operation.
So I’d suggest to check with your credit card company.

That’s weird. Thanks for letting me know, I just saw the refund on my bill. I will contact my bank.

You can get the Avast Free version for now for protection, then always upgrade later. However, I think you still need to take care of contacting your credit card company immediately as well and change your password on the account if you do online banking or credit card transactions.
