Thanks for the quick response, Asyn! I’ve downloaded this:
Mac Security: https://install.avcdn.net/mac-av/10_10/AAFM/avast_security_online.dmg [macOS 10.10+]
Before I install it, can you tell me which version of Avast Security for Mac this would be?
That’s the latest one (14.2).
Ah, so that’s the one I don’t want.
Would this one be 13.5, or what would the version be?–
Mac Security: https://install.avcdn.net/mac-av/10_9/AAFM/avast_security_online.dmg [macOS 10.9]
Yes, that’s V13.
Thanks so much, Asyn! You’re a lifesaver! ;D
You’re welcome.
Oops! Not so fast… https://install.avcdn.net/mac-av/10_9/AAFM/avast_security_online.dmg [macOS 10.9] turns out to be a 14.2 installer. I tried it 3 or 4 times, just to make sure I wasn’t getting confused, but I always ended up with 14.2… even though the installer icon was the old orange color instead of the new blue.
I just downloaded Mac Security Free: https://files.avast.com/mac/avast_free_mac_security.dmg [macOS 10.6/10.7/10.8] and installed 12.9
Is there any way I can get an actual 13.x installer? Preferably 13.5?
Thanks,
Ken
As this is an online installer it checks if your OS is compatible with the latest build. Which version of MacOS is running…?
Oh, that’s it! I’m running macOS 10.13 High Sierra. I got auto-updated to 14.2 and found its obtrusive alert windows intolerable, so I’m trying to go back to Avast 13.5
Now, here’s something else weird-- I just downloaded Mac Security Free: https://files.avast.com/mac/avast_free_mac_security.dmg [macOS 10.6/10.7/10.8] and installed 12.9-- but I just checked, and the app is actually 13.3
Man, Avast sure doesn’t make it easy for a user! But I guess I’ve gotten where I wanted to be. And now I’ve turned off Automatic Program Updates in the Preferences-- so maybe I can go back to normal!
Thanks again, Asyn! You’ve been a big help!
Ken
No problem Ken, glad I could help. Cheers
