need help fast win32 funlove 4099

i have two os in my system win98 and xp.i installed avast recently in xp and the after restarting it showed the msg “virus detected win32 funlove 4099” with the recommended action of scanning the drives.i did that and the files got repaired and i was asked to restart the computer.when i did this again the msg.virus detected came and i ran a scan.this went on for three times.the fourth time instead of scanning i chose the option of move to chest and then repair nothhing happened and i restarted the computer.but now when i choose to start win xp the os doesn’t load, the manufacturer’s name comes then the symbol for winxp and then again the option for choosing the os…it’s kinda like a loop…i’m simply helpless and i don’t know wat to do.can anyone please help me

You are in a very good position, my friend, you have two OS. All you need is to delete the virus file booting from Win98.

 thanks a lot…i’ll try doing that.

After you can boot on XP, please, schedule a boot time scanning with avast. Start avast! > Right click the skin > Schedule a boot-time scanning. Select for scanning archives and boot. It won’t be bad if you use a-squared, Free AVG Antispyware, SUPERantispyware or Spyware Terminator to remove trojans.

Other option is scanning in SafeMode (repeatedly press F8 while booting): http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;315222
Can you boot in XP Safe Mode?

i’ve done a complete search in my win 98…but i can’t boot win xp even safe mode…the same problem.it forms a loop…doesn’t start :frowning:

Maybe overinstallation of XP can solve the problem and you won’t lose your programs, settings, data, files, etc.
Just choose ‘Repair’ installation of Windows and install ‘over’ the old installation.

After that, go to windows updates website and bring XP to the latest updates.

okay…thanks a lot.i’ll do that
