So usually im good with not getting infected files or viruses on my computer but I scanned this morning like I always do and avast found an infected file.
I followed advice I was given and found in another thread on here and still have no clue how to get rid out the infected file i moved it to the Virus chest
I scanned a second time and this is what it came up with:

Scanning of selected files
Action was completed successfully!
Virus has been detected!
File Name: AppletX.class
FileID: 10
Virus Description: Java:Djewers-B [Trj]
But how do I upload the file if I dont know where to find it at
Went to the site and clicked on browse but it takes me to my documents folder?
So how do I find the file?
On another forum it said to leave it in the virus chest for a week or so and then scan it again, if it still shows up as being a virus then delete it?
Should I just wait and then do that?
You could also check the offending/suspect file at: VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner and report the findings here the URL in the Address bar of the VT results page. You canβt do this with the file securely in the chest, you need to extract it to a temporary (not original) location first, see below.
You didnβt say what version of avast you are using, so here is how to do it for both:
avast5 - Create a folder called Suspect in the C:\ drive. Now exclude that folder in the File System Shield, Expert Settings, Exclusions, Add, type (or copy and paste) C:\Suspect* That will stop the File System Shield scanning any file you put in that folder. Now enter the chest again and Extract the file to the Suspect folder and upload it to VT.
avast4 - Create a folder called Suspect in the C:\ drive. Now exclude that folder in the Standard Shield, Customize, Advanced, Add, type (or copy and paste) C:\Suspect* That will stop the standard shield scanning any file you put in that folder. You should now be able to export any file in the chest to this folder and upload it to VirusTotal without avast alerting.
Given the file name mentions .class I suspect you may be running an old and vulnerable version of JAVA - I would also suggest a visit to this site, which scans your system for out of date programs that have patches to close vulnerabilities, http://secunia.com/software_inspector/.
