Need help installing latest Java

You guys seem pretty good at helping fix all kinds of problems so I thought I would ask for your help. I tried installing the latest Java update and after it d/l I got the following message

Error # 1606. Could not access network location

Went to Java help page and it said to do this

CAUSE

These errors are InstallShield error codes, which indicate that an action failed during installation process.

SOLUTION

Please try to download and install the offline installer:

I did d/l the offline installer at 15MB and with my slow dial up it took a long while. Do you have any other suggestions?

Do you have a software firewall active?

Yes, I use PC Tools Firewall Plus

Most likely you will need to create an exclusion for this particular program in your firewall’s configuration, meaning that your firewall will not hinder any communication between this program and the server it receives updates from. :slight_smile:

However, I’m not sure where within PC Tools you would create this exclusion. ???.

PCTools Firewall ask your permission to allow any program to update. You must give it permission.
