For the past three days, I have been trying to find it/detect it. I installed Avast, and ran a full scan on reboot but it didn’t seem to find anything. Is there anything else that I can have Avast do to find this?
I also tried using MBR.exe, but that told me my system is clean as well.
I did a full system scan with Macfee, and that found nothing either.
I also used MalwareBytes, and that found nothing.
Can anyone offer advice on what my next steps should be. I would really appreciate it. This message pops up when I first boot up, and then never appears again.
Are you trying to use McAfee and avast at the same time in this computer? They will conflict for sure…
Maybe McAfee support could say something if it’s not a false positive from their side.
As Tech says the first rule of scanning tells us never to use two resident av scanners together, because they are sure going to conflict and start to flag each other, so in stead of getting a better protection you loose protection.
An alternative is using one resident av solution and combine it with scanning with a non-resident scanner or various non-resident scanners.
I combine avast resident with DrWebCureIt or if I want to combine with the latest added scan from McAfee I use their free stinger tool: http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/
If a virus should be aggressive against a tool try to escape this attack by changing the name into: D-r-W-e-b-C-u-r-e-I-t or l_a-u-n-c-h.exe change to s-t-i-n-g-e-r.exe,
