Need Help, Please...

Hello,

I’m using Avast Free Edition (V. 6.0.1289), but I have a problem: Everytime I open a website/page, the iexplore.exe process takes up to 99-100% of CPU until the page is completely loaded. Everytime this fact occurs, the process AvastSvc.exe is running too (using about 5% of CPU). In addition to this, I can see (in the Task Manager) that the volume of transactions gets around 600-700 Mb, specially when I go to some websites or when I have more then one IE session active. As result of all this, my pc goes slower.
The Avast scanning says that my pc is “clean”.
So, I’d like to know how to fix this problem…

  • My pc specifications:

Intel Pentium 4
2.81 GHz CPU
256 Mb RAM
Windows XP Profissional 2002 Service Pack 3
Internet Explorer 8 (IE 8)
Avast Free Edition (v. 6.0.1289)

Best regards

Try:

Avast main GUI → web shield → EXPERT settings → “well known browsers only”.

Isn’t that because there’s a lack of RAM in his computer ???

Have you another security programs installed, like AV or Firewall?
Have you activated Virtual Memory? If yes how much is?

Is suggest you to try Firefox first, and second disable any add-ons in IE 8.
Try to disable the web-rep module to look if you see best result.

Definitly!

XP needs at least 512MB RAM to boot half way decently and giogio installing Firefox will only make things worse. ::slight_smile:
