Hello, I need help getting rid of bluescreens my computer has been having recently, I’ve run scans to see if any viruses maybe causing them but the all scans by Super Anti-Spyware and Malwarebtyes have come up empty. I’ve also cleaned out my pc hardware to resolve any thermal issues. In addition I’ve noticed unusually high cpu usage in the 80% - %100 range when only one or two applications are running.
I’ve run whocrased analysis, results are attached to this post.

I’ve gotten no replies, does this mean my computer is fine?

attach OTL diagnostic logs http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53253.0 the a log expert will check it tomorrow
Which application is using the most CPU time when it gets high ?
We will try a clean boot to see if the errant driver can be located
In the search box type Msconfig and select the programme that appears at the top
1.In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click Selective Startup on the General tab.

I’m not sure I understand #2 Am I suppose to have normal start up selected with all of the choice on selective start up selected and greyed out?

I did all steps but I’m not sure if I did 2 correctly.
Some additional details regarding the high cpu usage are that it’s stays unusually high for a couple hours or more then some how goes back to normal levels.
What programme takes most of the CPU during this time
It should look like this

Skype seems to take up the most Cpu strangely, around 48-50% the majority of the time according to the resource manager.
Do you have Skype set to start with the computer ? Is Skype in use when this happens … Heavy CPU load

No, Skype can be idle and still use 50% of the cpu. And yes it opens on start up.
OK unless you are desperately in need of having it start with the computer then I would suggest disabling it

Ok, I just found out what the problem was. Microsoft recently released a windows update that causes skype to guzzle your cpu usage if you don’t have internet explorer set as you default web browser. THIS SUCKS!
I had to open up internet explorer and set it as my default browser and it fixed the problem.

So I guess the recent bluescreens were cause by overheating of the cpu because of this software issue. faceplams
