Hi, I am using Avast Pro 4.6 and a trojan and a spyware was found in my system and avast immediately stopped my system and replaced my desktop wallpaper with warning sign saying htat system has been stopped due to malfunction…it advised me to install antispyware and remove the spyware…but now I cant get this warning sign to go…and get my desktop wallpaper back again…I even restarted the system…nothings changed…
Have you tried to use any anti-spyware / anti-trojan / on-line scanner?
You’ll find plenty of them (free) at my website (http://spyros.atspace.com).
Your desktop has probably been hijacked by a rogue anti-spyware product: a product which claims to remove spyware but in fact installs it. No legitimate product will change your desktop.
Do not accept any offers of products to remove spyware which appear on your desktop: they will only infect you with more spyware, viruses and Trojans.
Your first step is to run a scan with avast! and then with an anti-Trojan program and several different legitimate anti-spyware programs as Spyros mentioned. You can find links on his site or below.
Please ensure that you are using a firewall and that your OS is up-to-date or reinfection will occur.
Running an avast! scan:
Preferably do a boot time scan. (Apparently this doesn’t work in Win 98: if you have this OS, boot into safe mode before scanning- hit F8 while booting.)
Right click the avast! globe and select Start avast! Antivirus.
avast! will do a memory scan: if it find the worm in memory, it will prompt you to do a boot time scan: accept this and reboot.
If avast! doesn’t find anything in memory, schedule a boot time scan. (Click the button at the top left of the avast! silver console and select Schedule boot time scan from the drop-down menu.)
Run an anti-Trojan scan:
Run several (if not all) of these anti-spyware scanners:
