I have had my laptop for years now and I have never, ever had a problem with it. I left it on for a couple of hours one day and came back to find my Google Chrome kept crashing. Whenever I open it, it comes up, “chrome.exe- corrupt file. the file or directory is corrupt and unreadable. run the chkdsk utility”. Whenever I run an “Avast” full system scan or a quick scan it comes up “some items could not be scanned”- saying that it is some documents relating to safe browsing, preferences or documents and settings. It does not include an option to fix this, so I am extremely confused how to get my scans running normally. Can anyone help please? I NEED this laptop for coursework!!!
I have uninstalled then reinstalled google chrome, and done a complete full scan, yet they are still showing up. sorry i cannot provide a pic… I am trying the “repair” option for avast at the minute… any other suggestions?
google chrome is not crashing any more. and i have absolutely no idea what the files are- i have no idea how to get to them or what to do… the folders it says the files are in literally do not exist on my laptop…
files that can not be scanned are just that, it does not mean they are infected…
avast is just telling you it can not scan the file(s) and the reason why…it is normal
avast is a antivirus program, so corrupted file(s) are of no interest to avast…it will only try to repair/move/delete infected files
are you sure? as you can most likely tell, I have absolutely no idea about computers i thought that because it says they are “corrupt” files, they were harmful to my laptop perhaps?
Oh okay. I guess it has no impact on my laptop then? I have no idea what these files are, or where they are on my computer, so shall I just ignore this “some files cannot be scanned” result until it starts impacting how my laptop is running? ???
