I am new to Avast and not sure on how to use the Network Shield. I keep getting warnings and don’t know whether to click on continue or don’t send.
Hope someone can help me.

You should write down what the "warning(s)" say and put
that info in your "post". What "sensitivity" level ( Normal,
High or Custom ) is your "Network Shield" ?

Have you used the forum's "search", using the search
"term" "network shield" ?
If the Network Shield is intercepting known exploit routes, then iit would appear that your firewall isn’t doing its job. Do you have a firewall and if so what ?
Network Shield provider protects your computer from Internet worm attacks. It works similarly to a firewall, even though it does not fully substitutes it. The Network Shield does not require any user interraction.
It would seem that you are also talking about two different provides as Spiritsongs mentions. I suggest a browse of the avast help file to help gain a better knowledge of avast and to get the best out of it.
